“To get this scholarship that is intended to help women who have overcome obstacles in their lives is a tremendous honor. Being the first woman in my family to complete high school and go on to college has proven to have many obstacles. I have also faced many personal and non-academic related obstacles. Receiving this scholarship is very motivating for me. It makes me feel like I have other women who want me to succeed as much as I want to.
