“Being low-income and a student of color has taught me that college wasn’t made to be accessible to me. This is why this scholarship means so much. This coming fall, I plan on majoring in political science or oceanography. If I get my degree in political science, I plan on going to law school to become an Immigration Lawyer, to represent and protect individuals who have fallen between the cracks of a broken Immigration system. If I get my degree in oceanography and marine sciences, I will study, research, and find innovative ways to protect our marine life and ocean from the constant threats of climate change. No matter where I end up in my higher education journey, I will always carry my roots and the people who have guided me along the way. Thank you!”
