“After receiving the call that I was selected as one of the candidates to receive this scholarship I felt nothing, but grateful. As far as I can remember my mom has always been so hard and on top of me and my academic success. Although I didn’t see it then she did it because she knew what I could accomplish, and what I was capable of. Now after many years of school, I didn’t see how quickly this was coming. I didn’t see how quickly my senior year was approaching, how quickly my cheer season was coming to end, how quickly the day was coming for when I will have to say my final goodbyes to the friendships I’ve made along the way, and didn’t see how quickly the time was coming to when I will have to make the decisions that will impact my future forever, but it’s here. After applying for this scholarship and receiving the call that I got it, I was so grateful. My success, my hard work, and my perseverance didn’t go unnoticed. All those late nights doing homework after a long day of school participation, actually meant something, because it did not go unnoticed. This scholarship means so much more than the money, but shows me as a person how much I have been able to prove to others including myself that I’ve been able to uphold the values of service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership, throughout my academic career and that means so much to me.”
