This summer, the Aurora Public Schools Foundation invested $3,946 to help William Smith High School Digital Art teacher, Jason Wiedmaier, keep a beloved and essential class alive. With this grant, Jason purchased three new iPads and one new state of the art laptop computer, replacing outdated devices that could no longer run the Adobe software students need to create wearable artwork and create designs with other programs.

These new tools are already making a difference. Students now have reliable technology to explore digital design, express themselves through creative projects, and begin preparing for future careers in art, media, and technology. The upgrades also help ensure the school can continue offering this class, which supports district goals around Academic Achievement and Postsecondary Readiness.

Student Yael Tellez Alvarez says, “Working with iPads in Jason’s class was a lot of fun. I learned how to use apps like Procreate and Adobe Illustrator which I used to create my digital artwork.  Digital art is rapidly growing in society and will help me in the future with my career.”

A small investment ensured big opportunities:
More access. More creativity. More pathways to the future.
