We are very lucky to have a dedicated and diverse Board of Directors. These professionals volunteer their time to cultivate community investment that enriches student opportunity in the APS district. Our newest Board member is Robert McGranaghan. We’d love to introduce you to him and his dedication to the Aurora community.
Robert is the director of the Community-Campus Partnership at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. “The goal of the partnership is to establish an infrastructure on the campus that fosters, promotes and supports mutually-beneficial collaborative activities and partnerships between the campus and the surrounding local community that aim to improve health and economic well-being,” says Robert, who has been involved with the development of this partnership since the beginning. Robert hopes that through the partnership, the campus will be a better neighborhood to the surrounding areas, including Aurora. “I love working in Aurora – especially because of its diversity and because of all the great people I’ve come to know, admire and respect who live and work here.”
He wanted to get involved with the Foundation because of his commitment to the city, and in particular, the students of APS. “Our young people, whether they are our children, or the children of our neighbors, our friends or our colleagues, are the future of our society,” says Robert. “We should all feel like we have a vested interest in providing for the best education of ‘our’ children if we really care about creating a better future for the neighborhoods, communities, cities, states and nations in which we live.” Robert is looking forward to working with the Foundation’s newest initiative, Future Centers, and has high hopes that the Foundation becomes more closely linked with the schools to help them achieve their goals.
In his free time, Robert likes to run almost every day and read, and usually has his nose in two books at once. He also enjoys baking sweet treats and bringing them into the office for his co-workers to snack on.
